Send messages from linux

Hi, we are working on a project currently where a linux machine must send alerts to users. The users are accustomed to pinknotes and would prefer the alerts in this format.

Our current plan is to have the linux machine log into the pink notes master PC and send things via screen-scraping the web UI. It would be nice if there were some kind of way to do it besides this however.

Does pink notes support any kind of standard protocol to send messages? SOAP or similar would be ideal.

Thanks in advance!

Hello and welcome to the forums!

PinkNotes certainly allows you to add message from your proprietary software. All you need to know is how to add a record to a Microsoft Access Database (MDB) file via ADO or DAO. We have a tutorial thread (viewtopic.php?f=27&t=53) that should assist you. I know the sample code is written in Visual Basic, but the code is very basic. You should be able to tell the appropriate fields that need to be populated and how to go about it.

Our upcoming version of PinkNotes (v5) will be MSSQL-based so the procedure will be more steam-lined than it is now. We plan to provide a stored procedure that accepts parameters for easier 3rd party message sending.

Please let me know if you require further assistance.
